'Indie' is short for the word 'independent' so Indie music is just independently produced music. We would like to research Indie music for our music video genre because it contains many different genres as shown below, meaning that we can experiment with a wide range of styles for our music video.
Also, due to the fact that Indie music has many genres, we can choose a song that all of us would be happy to do. As Indie music is produced by independent artists/producers this may mean it is harder for these songs to reach the charts meaning that we can find less known Indie songs to use for our project, preventing us from becoming too attached to the song itself. We are not yet sure what type of music within the Indie genre we want to do, but we hope to choose soon.
Here's our final prelim video. Overall we really enjoyed making it, However there were many challenges. It was actually much harder than I thought it would be to edit due to the different shots. Matching up the lip syncing with the music was extremely hard and after the video was exported we realized that parts of the middle weren't matching up with the music.
Also the actions in the video were hard to match up, so whilst we were editing we released that they weren't in the same positions, however in our real music videos this shouldn't be a problem as we won't be copying other material. Whilst we were filming on the first day our camera ran out of charge which was a bit of a problem as it meant that we would have to record on another day when the weather may be different. On the second day of filming the weather was different as it was rainy and slightly duller, however this didn't seem to affect the final shot as in the original video the sunlight wasn't shown as much in these scenes.
Getting the same camera angles/shots were difficult and it was also difficult for Hannah to copy the framing of the shots. In one of the shots Hannah had to put her hand up however this was hard to achieve because we wanted to get a similar shadow reflecting on her face but this took a while to do, meaning Hannah's hand continuously needed a break. We didn't need to waste anytime learning lyrics as it was one of Hannah's favorite song so she already knew EVERY lyric of by heart! Overall for our first 'music video' I think that it was quite successful and we can learn a lot from our prelim, that can help wth the making of our final music video
Today we continued our filming and were able to get the last few shots so that the editing could be completed. Sadly the weather was a bit dull and rainy so we tried filming inside with a green/blue screen:
However, this did not work because Hannah was blue too! We decided to Hannah's hair and makeup in the meantime whilst waiting or the rain to die down. Once the rain had finally stopped we were able to go outside and complete filming. Hopefully it wont take to long for us to edit our footage.
Our filming took place in town park as we thought that this resembled the settings used in the video the most and it was also easy to access. The weather was very hot which was great because the weather in the video also looked very sunny. However our camera ran out so we will continue filming next week Monday. Here are some of the pictures we took during the day:
In the lesson today we storyboarded for our prelim. It took a while to do because of all of the different shots used, however after about an hour or two it was finally finished. We tried to include as much detail as possible e.g. the shot duration and the start time of the shot to make it as easy as possible during filming and to make sure that we did not miss out on any shots.
Today we finally chose the song for our prelim task, which is 'We'll Be the Stars' by Sabrina Carpenter. We chose this song for our prelim because we thought that with the time and resources we had it would be the easiest to execute. However, it was not too simplistic because it contained a range of different camera angles and shots. We are choosing to do the first 40 seconds of the video as this part will be the easiest to produce but will still show a range of different skills and scenes. This is the original video:
